About This Project
Material & Feature Breakdown
The primary kitchen backsplash features small-format glass tiles arranged in a herringbone pattern. The surface boasts a smooth, glossy finish, with crisp straight edges and a luminous gray color that reflects light to highlight the tilework. The grout joints are thin and contrasting in white, providing a clean separation between each individual tile piece. Tiles are cut in a narrow rectangle typical of modern herringbone layouts, sized approximately 1x4 inches, delivering both intricate visual interest and a contemporary aesthetic vibe.
The Iris II project by Brandon Architects, Inc., located in Costa Mesa, CA, utilizes these glossy glass herringbone backsplash tiles to create a showstopping yet refined kitchen backdrop. The blend of modern and transitional style cues makes the surface not only visually striking, but also highly versatile for varied kitchen design sensibilities. The carefully selected glass material and delicate gray tone reinforce a minimalist luxury, capturing and bouncing natural and artificial light for a bright, inviting cooking environment.
