About This Project
Material & Feature Breakdown
The kitchen features matte white ceramic subway tiles arranged in a stacked pattern across both the wall and backsplash areas. These tiles are rectangular, estimated at 3x12 in size, with precisely finished straight edges. The installation uses a thin, contrasting gray grout to highlight the clean lines and geometric rhythm of the modern, midcentury-inspired design. The tiles present a smooth, solid look texture that enhances the minimalist backdrop for the natural wood cabinetry and open shelving.
This kitchen embodies a refined blend of modern and midcentury style as part of the '50s Ranch Remodel project by Buckenmeyer Architecture, located in Portland, OR. The choice of clean, matte subway tiles establishes a bright and contemporary backdrop that perfectly complements the warmth of natural wood finishes, maximizing light and visual openness in the hub of the home. This tasteful upgrade makes the space ideal for both daily living and entertaining, reflecting a thoughtful embrace of classic forms with a modern twist.
